Early Life

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Andy Quinn traveled with his parents annually to Kennywood to visit relatives.  That is not surprising if you know that Andy’s great uncle was Brady McSwigan, President of Kennywood Park at the time; or that A.S. McSwigan, co-founder of Kennywood and first President of the National Association of Amusement Parks (forerunner to IAAPA) was his great grandfather.

Career

Annual visits became daily visits in 1972 when Andy, then a student at Wheeling College, came to work at Kennywood for the summer as a seasonal employee.  Beginning his illustrious career at Kennywood seasonally in the rides and later maintenance departments, Andy later became a full-time employee in the food service department.  In 1983, Andy moved to a department that suited his personality perfectly: Marketing, Sales, and Promotions.

In the years that followed, Andy also took on the role of Director of Government and Community Relations; with his warm smile and friendly demeanor, Andy provided a welcoming atmosphere to countless groups, as well as becoming extremely active in government relations for both Kennywood and the PAPA.  Andy was long time chair of the PAPA Government Relations Committee and served as PAPA President in 1991-1992, as well as chaired IAAPA’s Government Relations Committee from 2001-2008.  Andy also served on IAAPA’s Board of Driectors from 2000-2003 and received IAAPA’s Meritorious Service Award in 2002.
