Wildcat’s Revenge Wins Best New Roller Coaster of 2023

Coveted Golden Ticket Award Recognizes First Hybrid Roller Coaster at Hersheypark

Wildcat’s Revenge, the first wood and steel hybrid coaster at Hersheypark amusement park and first-of-its-kind manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) in Pennsylvania, tonight received the Amusement Today Golden Ticket Award for Best New Roller Coaster of 2023. The coveted Golden Ticket Awards were established in 1998 and are the direct result of votes cast by more than 500 experienced travelers worldwide.

Wildcat’s Revenge opened to the public on June 2, 2023, as the 15th coaster at Pennsylvania’s largest amusement park, which is now home to the most coasters in the Northeast. The hybrid’s highly-anticipated debut came 100 years after the first Wild Cat ride opened at the Park in 1923.

“We are thrilled to accept this incredible honor from respected industry leaders and coaster fans who have raved about their experience riding the first hybrid coaster at Hersheypark,” said Vikki Hultquist, Vice President, Hersheypark & Entertainment Operations. “Wildcat’s Revenge combines the best of wood and steel for a signature RMC experience you can only find in The Sweetest Place On Earth. It’s even more meaningful given the unique nod to the original Wildcat, the first coaster purchased by our founder Milton S. Hershey 100 years ago.”

Wildcat’s Revenge provides an unforgettable 2-minute and 36-second experience that begins as riders climb a 140-foot hill, plunge into an 82-degree drop and hit a maximum speed of 62 miles per hour along 3,510 feet of red track on a black steel and wood structure. The pursuit continues as riders stalk their prey through four inversions, including the World’s Largest Underflip, an inversion that begins with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270° roll and a dive down towards the side.

Located in the Midway America region of Hersheypark, Wildcat’s Revenge features a fully renovated coaster station with a design that harkens back to the iconic 1923 Wild Cat station, with low-pitched gables around the roof’s perimeter. Guests of Hershey’s height requirement and taller (48 inches and above) sit in one of three custom trains, showcasing fully-dimensional black, charcoal and silver wild cats exacting revenge on their wooden predecessor – a design first for Hersheypark.

“Wildcat’s Revenge is one dramatic ride,” said Tim Baldwin, Golden Ticket Awards Communications Coordinator. “When I was there, people were coming back screaming and cheering — and it didn’t stop! Even going down the station stairs, they were still raving over it. It’s a dynamo. It redefines ‘out of control.’ Wildcat’s Revenge only furthers Hersheypark’s coaster arsenal into a global destination.”

Wildcat’s Revenge is open for all four seasons at Hersheypark. Guests can ride the new coaster in its inaugural year during the Hersheypark Halloween seasonal event and Dark Nights immersive haunt experience, which runs for seven weekends from Sept. 15 through Oct. 29. For the first time, thrill seekers can also enjoy lights-out rides on Wildcat’s Revenge during the last hour of Hersheypark Halloween operations.
